Peter Jackson is an experienced business executive with over 40 years of management and operating experience with companies in multiple countries. He has served in a wide range of positions from engineering , operations, marketing and management to Chairman, Chief Executive and Director of public and private companies. Mr. Jackson’s business experience is very broad, and he has particular expertise in telecommunications. 

Following his training with British Telecom, Mr. Jackson joined Cable & Wireless in 1970. During his twenty successful years with Cable & Wireless, he accumulated a very broad range of experience, including design, construction, marketing and management of telecommunications systems in the Caribbean, the United Arab Emirates, Macau and China.

In 1993, Mr. Jackson was seconded to Asia Satellite Telecommunications Co Ltd (AsiaSat) by Cable & Wireless, one of its founding shareholders, as Chief Executive Officer. AsiaSat was Asia’s first private regional satellite operator which pioneered satellite television broadcasting for the region by launching its first regional satellite.

Under his leadership, AsiaSat grew to a fleet of powerful pan Asian satellites, and Mr. Jackson successfully built the world’s most watched broadcast platform providing access to over 53 countries and regions, and 66% of the world’s population. 

He also successfully diversified AsiaSat’s business and services by forming satellite related ventures that would contribute to the company’s revenue growth. These ventures included SpeedCast Limited, a leading broadband Internet and multimedia service provider in Asia. 

Mr. Jackson listed AsiaSat on both the Hong Kong and New York stock exchanges in 1996 and operated a business during turbulent market times in Asia, earning profits each year, even in the difficult years following the 1997 financial crisis, SARS and birds’ flu. Mr. Jackson served as the CEO from 1993 to 2010 and Executive Chairman from 2011 to 2012.

Mr. Jackson is currently a Non- Executive Director of AsiaSat (HKSE: 1135).

AsiaSat won a number of leading industry awards under Mr. Jackson’s leadership, including, on multiple occasions, the “Best Asian Satellite Carrier” in the Telecom Asia Awards and the “Satellite Communications Service Provider of the Year in Asia Pacific” Frost & Sullivan Asia Pacific ICT Awards, among others. 

Mr. Jackson’s personal awards include, in 2006 the Chairman’s award from CASBAA and the Asia-Pacific Satellite Communications Council (APSCC)’s Satellite Executive of the Year Award, in 2009 he was inducted into the SSPI’s Satellite Hall of Fame, and in 2010 he was awarded the CASBAA Lifetime achievement award. 

He served as a Non Executive Director and Chairman of Daum a public company in South Korea, the second largest internet, provider in the country. During his period on the Board as a Non-executive Director and Non Executive Chairman and Chairman of the Audit Committee, Daum was voted to have the “Best Practice” for corporate governance for years 2008, 2009 and 2010 among the KOSDAQ listed companies.

Mr. Jackson currently serves as Non-Executive Director of SpeedCast International Limited., (ASX:SDA) Which listed on the Australian stock exchange in 2012. He is the Chair of the Nomination and Remuneration Committee.

He currently serves as an INED of WeSolutions a Public company in Hong Kong (HKSE 860).

He currently serves as an INED of WeLab a private FinTech company in Hong Kong.

He currently serves as a Director of LeoLabs a private Space Radar Company in the US.  

From 2011 to 2016 Mr. Jackson was a member of the Investment Committee of a Private Equity Firm investing in forestry products in the Asia Pacific region.
